Getting on the Ground

Low Angle Wildlife Photography

Often it has been said that finding a different perspective or angle can help make a great photograph. Over the years I have learned that particularly with wildlife photography, finding a different perspective can be as easy as laying down on the ground. Most of the wildlife I photograph is smaller is size, birds, turtles, small mammals and such, so getting low to the ground helps to bring the viewer a bit more into their world. When you can view an animal at eye-level, I feel there is more of a connection compared to looking down on all the small critters as we so often do when standing up.

I've put together a small collection of some of my favorite photos taken while laying on the ground and I hope you enjoying viewing the world from just a bit lower.

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors. I am also the co-owner of KGM Expressions, a wedding and portrait photography business, with my wife Kim. This is how we make our living and I love that we get to do that together.
