A very secretive marsh bird the Clapper Rail is very often heard but not seen. I have found a few places where they are visible quite often and provide great opportunities for photos of them. They do require some work to get to the locations but it can be very worth it.
Join me to photograph these odd and fun critters in a small pond. It's generally an easy shoot as long as you are comfortable laying on your stomach for a while and staying relatively motionless. I'll provide a mat to keep you dry and clean. We'll try to get them out of the water as well as just eyes peeking out through the surface. The occasional turtle may show up too.
An incredibly beautiful yet odd looking wading bird, join me photographing Roseate Spoonbills in flight as they go to and from their nesting rookery in Florida. This workshop is available for either morning or evenings, both are great for flight shots. There are also many other wading bird species available at the same location.
The Hooded Warbler features a gorgeous black Hood masked over a vibrant yellow color as its namesake suggests. Join me to see these warblers that can be found in a wide range. Optional Locations in southern NJ with no travel fee (earlier in the season) or south-eastern New York (later in the season) which requires a $75 travel fee.
One of the few darker colored warblers the American Redstart is a gorgeous bird. With a very different looking female of the species which is also a pretty bird. They are quite the hyper species as well with often erratic movements and lots of flashes of orange. A $75 travel fee is required for this workshop.
Join me to spend some time with these striking little yellow and black warblers with a wonderful song. Prairie Warblers are somewhat common and easy to find in the right habitat. Thankfully they like to hang in low brush which makes them somewhat easier to photograph then other warbler species.
A sharp looking wading species that can easily be found at a local rookery. Here we will concentrate on photographing them in flight as well as perched on the top of trees in the beautiful morning sun. Earlier in the season you can capture nest building, later in the season you can capture the juvenile birds.
